Token Spring Metaphor and Thank YouPosted by Autumn Hollow on April 2, 2013 News/Blog | | No comments
The ground is softening, the light is prevailing, and hope is returning – it must be spring! We couldn’t be happier to finally share the fruits of our efforts over the past year: our new record! We are eternally grateful for the support of so many family and friends, there is no possible way that we could have made the record we made without you. There are simply not enough words to truly express our heartfelt gratitude.
How did this wacky journey begin?
Back in late January of 2012 we unknowingly started down the incredible path that led us to today. While playing a show at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA, a nanosecond conversation occurred between Brendan Murphy and Will Dailey who was also on the bill that evening. Their conversation morphed into further discussions, emails, meetings, and eventually a visit to our studio, and the project was born. Will Dailey took on the role of producer and we began many months of pre-production, tinkering, conversations, debates, head scratching, silent treatments, arguments, tears, and hugs until we eventually settled on the ten songs that make up our second full length album. Autumn Hollow was recorded in fits, bursts, and trickles during the spring, summer, and fall. The lion’s share of recording took place in our second home, Studio 12E, where we spent long days and nights playing wiffle ball, grilling, checking email and occasionally recording.
The final result is what we release today.
Why Autumn Hollow, Autumn Hollow?
We decided to call the album Autumn Hollow because there’s always been a fair amount of ambiguity about our name (“The”) Autumn Hollow (“Band”). While we have nothing against the words “the” or “band” we feel it’s fairly obvious that when people see us with our instruments they can deduce that we are a band (also we hear that two word band names are in for 2013 and we in Autumn Hollow are nothing if not trendsetters).
What the future holds…
Nobody truly knows…however we are currently working on a new website (which should be up any day!!), a music video (with a fiddlehead theme), and more CD release shows around New England (Providence-we’re coming for you next month!)
We hope you will enjoy the new record and share with friends. We look forward to seeing you at a future show.
You better be good or you better be damned good at it,
